Mai Sakamoto
Mai Sakamoto is a Japanese Danish designer who bridges theory, art and practice. Shaped by her complex cultural background, she specializes in connecting Japan and Denmark. With a background in fashion from the Royal Academy, her practice is rooted in creativity, craftsmanship and playful exploration – tools she uses to rethink transformation and healing in both cultural and ecological contexts. Mai Sakamoto’s work also includes experimental and co-creative processes, designing and facilitating collaborative spaces for diverse groups across ages and disciplines. Her vision is to transform the system she experienced as a young person in Japan, with the goal of fostering creativity and building confidence in future generations.
