Pat Kane

Pat Kane is a musician, writer, consultant, activist, futurist and father. He is the author of The Play Ethic (2004) and was curator of Nesta’s FutureFest for nearly a decade (2012-2021). He was also a key figure in the ideation of the UK-wide Unboxed festival in 2022. Pat Kane is an award-winning journalist and has written for every major UK media outlet over the last four decades. He is currently a columnist for The National. He was also part of the leadership of the campaign for Scottish independence, Yes Scotland (2012-2014), and is a founding (and current) board member of the think tank Common Weal. In 2017, Pat Kane co-founded The Alternative Global, a democratic innovation lab in Edinburgh. He is also celebrating 40 years as lead singer of one of Scotland’s best-loved bands, Hue And Cry.
